Question
My children are researching their father’s family and a great-great-greatgrandmother was named Dorothy Weisz. Is this strickly a Jewish name? Dorothy was born in Germany. Thank you for any information you can give us.
Answer
Shalom,.
I am no authority on Jewish genealogy but Weisz is definitely a Jewish name.
Can it also may be a non Jewish name I don’t know.
Dorothy is not a Jewish name but it is very common for Jews in Germany to hold a non Jewish first name.
