Question
Why is it ok to answer Amen to the 4th bracha of benching if most of the time all that is said out loud are the last few words, "Umi Kol Tuv Le’olam Al Yechasreinu"? Don’t we need to here the "Baruch Ata Hashem Elokeinu Melech Ha’olam ..." part of the bracha as well?
Answer
The assumption is inaccurate. If you can assume that someone recites the bracha properly and is a believing person, one can answer Amen to his bracha WITHOUT HEARING IT AT ALL providing one knows which bracha was recited.
