Question
what are the specifics we do for the upcoming last 2 days of pesach, regarding lighting the candles? Do we light both nights? Do we light a 2day candle? thank you
Answer
ב"ה
Shalom and Mo'adim Lesimcha,
My understanding is that you live outside Eretz Yisrael and you will be observing an eighth day of Pessach.
This year תשפ"ב 5782 , 2022, the seventh day of Pessach falls on a Friday. Therefore an Eruv Tavshilin must be made on Thursday in order to allow to prepare food for Shabbat on Friday. The Eruv Tavshilin also allows us to light candles on Friday in honor of Shabbat.
On Thursday eve candles are lit in honor of the Seventh day of Pessach. The blessing is said only for candles of Yom tov. No "Shehechiyanu" is said.
Prior to the lighting of the candles for Yom Tov, you should light a candle that lasts at least 24 hours, so that you will have an existing flame, when lighting candles of Friday in honor of Shabbat (and Yom Tov outside of Eretz Yisrael)
The candles on Friday must be lit before Shabbat like any Friday, Erev Shabbat, during the year. The candles are lit from the existing 24 hour flame.
One who lives in Eretz Yisrael will make the blessing on candles for Shabbat only since Pessach is over. One who lives outside of Eretz Yisrael will make the blessing אשר קדשנו במצותיו וצונו להדליק נר של שבת ושל יום טוב
which includes Shabbat and Yom Tov. And as aforementioned No "Shehechiyanu" is said.
All the best
