Question
what is the blessing for smelling a beeswax candle if it smells like a sweet scent, it smells kind of like honey but the only ingredient in it is beeswax.
Answer
Shalom U'vracha,
Thank you for your question.
if the beeswax candle has a real fragrant and sweet-smell then you should say a bracha on it. However, if the purpose of the candle is just meant to eliminate bad smells like an air freshener or fumigant than one doesn't say a bracha on it (see Shulchan Aruch 217:2) Additionally, If the smell does not come from the beeswax but comes instead from oils added to it, then a bracha would not be said on it.
