Question
When we meet people does it just happen or is it Hashem's work? I am talking about the many people we meet in daily life. or is it a mixture of the two. If so, does G-D also put us in touch with bad people and is there a reason for this? When I talk about bad people I am not talking about the worst, but people on the level that are dishonest selfish greedy, etc, and other ways unrelated to this sort of bad, but not worst level behaviour. Are the righteous people meant to keep away from these people or assist them - not to sin - but if they are having a bad time - for example, if they have become ill or have a bad personal situation? This refers not only to Jewish people
Answer
Thank you for your question. 1. The people that we 'happen' to meet are definitely Hashem's doing, like everything in this world. Everything is G-d's work except for our free will to do mitzvot or sins and the fear of Heaven. 2. Are we supposed to assist the people that we meet? It’s all dependant on the circumstances. However, in general, we try to help all people, good and bad. We learn this from Avraham Avinu, who prayed that Sdom would survive. All the best!
