Question
I usually learn some Torah on Shabbos afternoon. I live in a household which is not that Orthodox in some ways.
I learn in the through living room. But when I learn my mother has the radio on.She suffers from tinnitus and needs noise in the background.
Secondly, later on in the day,she puts on the television. This is mainly for pleasure.
Am I obligated in one or both cases to learn somewhere else ?
Where i learn is comfortable and level(table and chair). Other places are not so .But are not the end of the world either.
Answer
Shalom,
You are not obligated to learn somewhere else. You have nothing to do with the television that's on. However, if there is music or some show that you find yourself listening to it and enjoying it than you should find a different place to learn.
All the best!
