Question
I have accidentaly used meat cutlery to mix milk dishes. People have told me to stick the cutlery in dirt for three days, if that sufficient, or am I required to take the cutlery to be toveled?
Answer
If the milk dishes were cold, it's enough to wash the cutlery off in cold water. If they were hot, the cutlery must be immersed in boiling water and then rinsed off. There is no need to tovel them in a Mikvah. Only cutlery made by a non-Jew or purchased from a non-Jew is toveled, even before its first use.
