Question
I have heard that rice that is not certified as Kosher should not be eaten. What is the difference in the kashrut during the first process in the factory?
Answer
Rice is sometimes- depending on where it comes from and where you live- infested with bugs and has to be checked. Speak to a local rabbinical authority to see if that is the problem or if the rice you buy is processed together with other substances that might make a problem.
