Question
Can you open a can of food for Kiddush on Shabbat morning for Kiddush? The Kiddush takes place in our synagogue.
Answer
It's always better to open cans before Shabbat.
If needed one can rely on a lenient opinion that allows opening on Shabbat, in that case the can should be pierced from the bottom to make the can unusable, opened, and have the content poured out ASAP. (Shmirat Shabbat 9, 1-3)
