Hi, I currently recieve a government fortnightly payment as I am an independent university student and earning less than a certain amount of money a year. Am I required to count this as my income and give my 10% of Tzedaka from this money? Thank you

I have received from my Rabbi, Rabbi Zalman Baruch Melamed shlit"a that though there may not necessarily be a Torah command to give Tzedaka from this income - a person who gives will see much blessing and riches from his or her contribution. And though not obligatory, it is highly recommended. May you be blessed with both spiritual riches and matieral riches that grow each day! Rabbi Baruch Kitay
