Question
Is my 8 year old son allowed to sleep in my bed (I’m his mom) occasionally? For example, if his light is by mistake left on for shabbos and he other wise can’t sleep? If we have a guest and they stay in his room? If he is sick?
What is the Halacha ?
Answer
Shalom,
Thank you for your question. According to the Shulchan Aruch (Even HaEzer, 21, 6) a mother may sleep in the same bed as her son – even if they are naked, if the son is very young (such as a baby). When the son is older, then it is permitted for them to sleep in the same bed with their cloths on (both mother and son).
Blessings.
