Question
Hi
I have a plastic Ninja smoothie cup that was used for milchik smoothies (cold).
A few years have passed, and now I only drink parev smoothies in this cup.
Would it be ok to wash it in my meat dishwasher?
We are Sephardi.
Thanks
Answer
Yes, it is permitted to wash your plastic Ninja Smoothie in your meat dishwasher.
Explanation and sources:
Two questions need to be discussed here: Is your cup Milchig, and secondly can it be used in a meat dishwasher.
1. Is this cup Milchig?
Since according to your description, it was only used cold, the cup isn't Milchig. A good rinse from the dairy products is enough (shulchan Aruch 451:25).
If it was normally used for hot dairy, then we'd reach our second discussion.
2. Using a Dishwasher for Dairy and Meat:
The Poskim discussed whether the same dishwasher could be used both for dairy and meat vessels. Some Poskim require separate dishwashers (Minchat Yitzchak), others say that they the same one can be used but only one after another, switching the trays (Igrot Moshe, Yoreh Deah, 2:28-29). According to the Yabia Omer (yabia Omer, Yoreh Deah, 10:4) , "Meikar Hadin" it would be permitted to put the Dairy together with the meat dishes, but wrote that it is preferable to do one after the other. This hetter is based on the understanding that the remains of food are rinsed off before, and the use of soap considers it "Pagum".
