Question
My husband and I know we should avoid touching and physical demonstrations of affection in public or even at home in front of guests, but what about in front of our young children? We observe taharat hamishpacha but are physically affectionate when not in our separations. Do we need to alter our behavior in front of our children? They are under the age of 4.
Answer
Shalom U'verachah,
One should still maintain a level of tzinut in front of even small children, but one can show appropriate affection such as a hug or a kiss as this also teaches children that this is the way we show love to each other.
